EnerGuide Home Energy Evaluations

An EnerGuide evaluation is a thorough, third-party check of how well your home uses energy, measured against Natural Resources Canada’s national standard. A trained advisor visits your home, inspects the insulation, windows, heating and hot water systems, and runs a blower door test to measure air leakage. You then receive an easy-to-read report with your official EnerGuide rating, a full list of where energy is being wasted, and a prioritized plan of upgrades ranked by cost and payback — so you know exactly what to fix first. It’s the perfect starting point whether you’re applying for a rebate, meeting a permit requirement, or simply want lower energy bills.

  • What you get
  • Official EnerGuide rating & label
  • Whole-home inspection (insulation, windows & doors, HVAC, heat pump, hot water, solar panels)
  • Blower door airtightness test included
  • Personalized upgrade plan ranked by savings
  • Rebate & permit-ready documentation
  • One-on-one advisor walkthrough of your results

New Home Energy Ratings

Building a new home? We rate its energy performance before and after construction so you know it’s efficient from day one. Our NRCan-trained advisors review the plans, test the finished build for air leakage, and confirm whether it meets ENERGY STAR® or Net Zero standards. Builders get proof that the home is code-ready and market-ready, while buyers get the confidence of a genuinely efficient home with lower running costs and a valuable EnerGuide label at closing.

  • What you get
  • Plan review before construction starts
  • Pre-drywall and final EnerGuide ratings
  • ENERGY STAR® / Net Zero readiness check
  • On-site airtightness testing
  • Documentation for builders and buyers

Blower Door Airtightness Testing

A blower door test is the most accurate way to find out how drafty your home really is. We fit a calibrated fan into an exterior doorway and gently lower the air pressure inside, which pulls outside air in through every crack and gap. As the fan runs, our advisor walks the whole house to pinpoint each leak — around windows, doors, electrical outlets, attic hatches, baseboards and plumbing penetrations — and records your air changes per hour (ACH). You leave with a clear number for your home’s airtightness and a room-by-room list of the leaks worth sealing first, which means a warmer home, fewer drafts and lower heating and cooling bills.

  • What you get
  • Precise air changes per hour (ACH) measurement
  • Room-by-room leak detection
  • Written airtightness report with your ACH score
  • Prioritized sealing checklist
  • Advice on the most cost-effective fixes

Thermal Imaging (Infrared) Inspections

Some of the biggest energy problems are hidden inside your walls, ceilings and floors where you can’t see them. A thermal imaging inspection uses a professional infrared camera to reveal them. Warm and cold areas show up as different colours on the camera, so our advisor can instantly spot missing or wet insulation, hidden air leaks, moisture that could lead to mould, and heat escaping around windows, doors and ductwork. We scan the home room by room and give you annotated infrared photos that show exactly where the problems are — so any repairs or upgrades go straight to the spots that will make the biggest difference.

  • What you get
  • Reveals missing insulation behind finished walls
  • Finds hidden air leaks and heat loss
  • Detects moisture before it becomes mould damage
  • Annotated infrared photos of every problem area
  • Room-by-room heat-loss summary

Energy Code Compliance Support

Building and renovation codes now include strict energy requirements, and getting them wrong can mean costly delays or failed inspections. We make compliance simple. Our qualified advisors explain which rules apply to your project, build an energy model of your design, and show you the most affordable way to meet the National Energy Code (NECB) and provincial tiered-code targets. Whether it’s a new build or a major renovation, we prepare the reports and paperwork your inspector needs and stay available to answer questions along the way — so your project passes the first time, without expensive last-minute changes.

  • What you get
  • Guidance for new builds and major renovations
  • Energy modelling of your design
  • Clear path to meet NECB / tiered-code targets
  • Compliance reports and paperwork for permits
  • Advisor support through inspection

Renovation Upgrades & Rebate Support

Energy rebates can put real money back in your pocket, but the paperwork and required evaluations can be confusing. We handle both. Before your renovation, we complete the “before” evaluation that most programs require and recommend the upgrades that earn the biggest rebates. After the work is done, we return for the “after” evaluation and prepare all the documentation needed to claim your incentives — including national programs like the Canada Greener Homes Initiative and provincial renovation-permit requirements. From start to finish you get straightforward advice on which upgrades are worth it and help making sure no eligible rebate is left behind.

  • What you get
  • Pre- and post-upgrade evaluations
  • Advice on which upgrades earn the most rebate
  • Complete rebate application paperwork
  • Support for Canada Greener Homes & provincial programs
  • Guidance to maximize every eligible incentive
